First-aid measures

Based on the substance in Highly Refined Mineral Oil as manufactured

General advice : Move out of dangerous area. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

If inhaled: If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician. In case of burns apply cold water until pain subsides then seek medical advice.

In case of eye contact: Flush eyes with water as a precaution. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/ attention

If swallowed : Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Take victim immediately to hospital

Fire-fighting measures

Based on the substance in Highly Refined Mineral Oil as manufactured

Suitable extinguishing media: Use water fog, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide (CO2) to extinguish flames

Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet

Combustibility : Not classified as flammable or combustible, but will combust if ignited.

Hazardous combustion products: Metal oxides

Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and unburned hydrocarbons (smoke).

Flammable properties : not determined

Protective equipment and precautions for firefighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health.

Fire Fighting Instructions : Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.

Accidental release measures

Based on the substance in Highly Refined Mineral Oil as manufactured

Personal precautions : Advice for emergency responders

Ensure adequate ventilation. Use personal protective equipment. Material can create slippery conditions. For personal protection see section 'exposure controls / personal protection'. Advice for non-emergency personnel Avoid contact with spilled material. Do not touch or walk through spilled material.

Environmental precautions : Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas.

Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water. Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water courses. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for cleaning up : Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Large Spills: Dyke far ahead of liquid spill for later recovery and disposal. Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent Report spills as required to appropriate authorities. Seek the advice of a specialist before using dispersants. Dispose of according to local regulations. In the event of a spill or accidental release, notify relevant authorities in accordance with all applicable regulations. Material will sink to the sediment layer.  Remove debris in path of spill prior to oiling and remove contaminated debris from shoreline and water surface. Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly while observing environmental regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For personal protection see section 'exposure controls / personal protection'. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations. Handle and open container with care. Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. Nitrogen blanketing of containers is required. No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Do not reheat above: 65 °C (149 ° F)

Storage temperature : 50 °C (122 ° F) - 65 °C (149 ° F)

Incompatible materials and coatings: butyl-rubber, Butadiene Rubber, Polyethylene, Styrene Rubber
