Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Remarks:
length of 250 mm
Burning time:
ca. 96 s
Remarks on result:
other: spread out of the combustion zone over a distance of 100 mm, after removal of the gas burner

Preliminary study: The test substance showed an independent reaction after the ignition flame was removed. The test item ignited immediately

Definitive study: The combusion was repeated 6 times. The test item ignited immediately

The test substance was immediately inflammable by the hot flame of the gas burner. A spread out of the combustion zone over a distance of 100 mm in 96 seconds was observed after removal of the ignition flame.

Interpretation of results:
other: not highly flammable
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study, the read across substance was classified as not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the flammability of the read across substance, C12-16 ADBAC (purity: 94.4%) according to EU Method A.10, in compliance with GLP. The test was carried out by the ignition of a line with a length of 250 mm, a width of 20 mm and a height of 10 mm with the hot flame of a gas burner. The read across substance was immediately inflammable by the hot flame of a gas burner. A spread out of the combustion zone over a distance of 100 mm in 96 seconds was observed after removal of the ignition flame. Under the conditions of the study, the read across substance was classified as not highly flammable (Schulze, 2007). Based on the results of the read across, a similar result is expected for the test substance.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

The flammability was determined based on a study conducted with read across substance, C12 -16 ADBAC, according to EU Method A.10 (Schulze, 2007)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable
