Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
INHALATION
If inhaled, remove to fresh air and allow the victim to rest in a well ventilated area. If breathing is stopped, trained personnel should begin artificial respiration (use protective mask with one way valve), or if the heart is stopped, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CNR) immediately. Seek medical attention.
CONTACT WITH THE SKIN
Remove contaminated clothing, taking care not to spread the chemical. Flush the contact area with lukewarm running water and soap for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
CONTACT WITH THE EYES
Immediately flush eyes with running water for at least 15 minutes, keeping eyelids open. Always seek medical attention for accidents involving the eyes.
INGESTION
Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Never give anything by mouth if victim is rapidly losing consciousness, or is unconscious or convulsing. Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
- SUITABLE: water spray, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide or appropriate foams.
- UNSUITABLE: none
SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE
The thermal decomposition and ignition of the product can produce toxic fumes COx, NOx and SOx.
ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS
For single units (packages): no special requirements needed. For larger amounts (multiple packages/pallets) of product: since toxic, corrosive or flammable vapours might be evolved from fires involving the product and associated packaging, self contained breathing apparatus a full protective equipment are recommended for fire fighters. (Full facial mask with “Universal” filter). If possible, contain and collect fire fighting water for later disposal.
Accidental release measures
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Prevention of skin and eye contact and personal clothing : wear protective clothing, protective glasses, rubber boots and heavy-duty rubber gloves.
Provision for sufficient ventilation/ respiratory protection: wear an independent respirator. Evacuate the area and aerate the zone contaminated by the spilt product after cleaning it away completely.
Control of dust: avoid forming clouds of dust/powder.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Do not allow the product to enter water or the soil. Prevent it from entering the drains or sewers. Use suitable containers for preventing environmental pollution. Alert neighbourhood: not necessary
METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP
Use of absorbent material: vermiculite, dry sand, earth.
Cleaning methods: use suitable personal protection. Clean up only under the supervision of an expert. Remove the product with mechanical means; where possible, recuperate the product by collecting it in clean containers to allow its reuse or elimination. After complete recovery of the product wash the contaminated area with water. Air out the area. Seal and label the containers. Remove contaminated materials. Do not pour the product down the drains. Use suitable containers to avoid environmental pollution. Consign the containers to the waste disposal personnel.
Handling and storage
PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING
Containment, local and general ventilation, measures to prevent aerosol and dust generation and fire: the premises set up for the handling of the product must be fitted out with localised and controlled aeration systems (laminar flow hoods, etc.) capable of confining the dispersion of the active ingredient in the form of air-dispersed powder. Use hoods with interchangeable filters
Advice on general occupational hygiene: use suitable personal protection devices including certified respirators, protective safety glasses and compatible gloves resistant against chemical agents. Wash yourself with care after each handling operation. Never eat, drink or smoke during handling. Safety shower and washing stations for rinsing eyes must be provided.
CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING ANY INCOMPATIBILITIES
Specific storage requirements to control of the environmental effects: store in a cool place. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated area. Carefully close the open containers and place them upright to avoid leaks.
Type of materials used in packing/containers of substance: pack the product in drums/ tanks of plastic approved for transport.

Exposure controls / personal protection
- EYE/ FACE PROTECTION
Wear protective glasses (EN 166) during the execution of any industrial type of operations. If necessary, wear a protective face shield.
- SKIN PROTECTION
Use work overalls and/or coat, or dustproof overalls in Tyvek with hood for industrial type operations.
- HAND PROTECTION
- Type of material and thickness: use nitrile or rubber (neoprene) gloves. Minimum thickness/ gloves 0.11 mm.
- Typical or minimum breakthrough times of the glove material: handle with gloves. Gloves must be checked before being used. Use a proper technique for removing gloves (without touching the outer surface of the glove) to avoid the
- RESPIRATORY PROTECTION
If the risk assessment foresees the need for purified air respirators, use a full face mask with combined ABEK type filters (EN 14387) to support the technical measures. If the respirator is the only means of protection, use a full-face ventilated system. Use respirators and components tested and approved by the relevant standardization bodies, such as NIOSH (USA), CEN (EU).
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE CONTROLS
Avoid dispersion in the environment.
Stability and reactivity
CHEMICAL STABILITY
Stable in storage conditions
POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS REACTIONS
No hazardous polymerisations occur.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS
The thermal decomposition and ignition of the product can produce toxic fumes COx, NOx and SOx.
Disposal considerations
INCINERATION
Dissolve or mix the product with a combustible solvent then incinerate in an incinerator for chemical products equipped with a post-combustion and destruction system.
DISPOSAL METHODS SUITABLE FOR THE SUBSTANCE
This material and its containers must be disposed of as hazardous waste products.
SUITABLE DISPOSAL METHODS FOR COMBINED PACKAGING MATERIALS
The combined packaging materials must be disposed of as hazardous waste products.
Work in compliance with the national and local laws in force.
