Description of key information

Creatine is a colourless, crystalline, and odourless organic powder. It is solid at room temperature.

Creatine melts at 300-303°C with decomposition. The boiling point of Creatine cannot be determined because the test material decomposes before boiling. Creatine has a density of 1.33 g/cm³ at 25°C. The substance as manufactured has a median particle size of 114.02 µm. The vapour pressure of Creatine has not been determined because its melting point is above 300°C. However, the Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB) reports a peer-reviewed, calculated value of 7.9E-4 mm Hg at 15 °C.

Creatine Monohydrate is a hydrophilic compound (log Kow -2 at 20°C) and is soluble in water (15.1 g/L at 20 °C). These data are read across to Creatine. As such, the solubility in organic solvents/fat is not considered a relevant property of this substance as it will essentially be insoluble in non-polar solvents. Creatine is not surface active.
