Administrative data

First-aid measures

General informations: First aider: Pay attention to self-protection!

In case of eye contact: After contact with the eyes, rinse with water with the eyelids open for a sufficient length of time, then consult an opthalmologist immediately.

Skin contact: Wash off with plenty of water and soap for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. If irritation occurs or persists, get medical attention. Wash clothing and shoes before reuse.

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a physician immediately.

In case of ingestion: Call a physician immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, foam.

Special fire-fighting procedures: NIOSH approved positive pressure. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective turnout gear.

Unusual fire and explosions hazards: Dust can combine with air to form an explosive mixture.

Other information: May produce toxic fumes of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide. The composition of the combustion products have not been determined.

Prevent fire-fighting water from entering surface water or groundwater.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Avoid generation of dust. Wear personal protection equipment. Wear breathing apparatus if exposed to dusts.

Environmental precautions:

Do not allow to enter drains/surface water/ground-water.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

Carefully take up dry. Residues suck in in accordance to the regulations of explosion protection.

Product waste must be collected and disposed of according to current laws. In particular, the security regulations of the Narcotics Act are followed.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

All work processes must always be designed so that the following is as low as possible: Inhalation, Skin contact, Eye contact. Avoid generation of dus The product is combustible, fine dust (< 63 μ) may form explosive mixture. Dust explosion category: ST 1

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations.

Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place. Do not store at temperatures above 30°C. Subject to security regulations of the Narcotics Act.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters:

Limits for occupational safety: the substance is not listed. Valid are the general dust limits for 8 h.

Exposure controls:

Appropriate engineering controls:

Immediately change contaminated clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations. Work clothing should be removed in a change room on site and laundered professionally. Employees should shower and change into street clothes before leaving the facility. Prevent the accumulation of dust in the work area by thorough periodic cleaning of the area.

Personal protective equipment:

Protective clothing should be selected specifically for the working place, depending on concentration and quantity of the hazardous substances handled. The resistance of the protective clothing to chemicals should be ascertained with the respective supplier.

Respiratory protection: Is required whenever air contamination (dust, mist or vapors) is generated by the process. A NIOSH-approved high efficiency toxic dust/mist/fume respirator is recommended.

Eye protection:  required

Hand protection in full and splash contact:

Glove material:       PVC, Butyl-/Nitrile rubber

Layer thickness: min. 0.11 mm

The protective gloves to be used must comply with the specifications of EC directive 89/686/EEC and the resultant standard EN374.

For the particular application please contact the supplier of CE-approved gloves.

Environmental exposure controls and protective equipment:

Water:  Do not release into water. If in waste water, waste water treatment is required. Air:  For industrial and professional uses air-filters may be required.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:

No special conditions

Chemical stability:

Stable under normal conditions

Possibility of hazardous reactions:

Oxidizing agents

Conditions to avoid:

Light and elevated temperature

Incompatible materials:

Alkali

Hazardous decomposition products:

In case of fire may produce toxic fumes of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide.

Disposal considerations

Product:

Product waste and residues must be disposed of according to current laws.

Packaging:

Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packaging in the same way as the substance itself.

The regulations of the Narcotics Act must be complied with.
