First-aid measures

Inhalation:

Remove to fresh air - Call a physician or Poison Control Centre immediately - If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration - In case of lung irritation, first treatment with dexametason aerosol )spray) - Give oxygen

Skin contact:

Wipe skin with absorbent paper - Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water - Rinse with very diluted acid - Obtain medical attention.

Eye contact:

In case of eye contact, remove contact lens and rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes - Protect

unharmed eye - Ophthalmic treatment necessary.

Ingestion:

Prevent vomiting if possible - Do not induce vomiting - Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water - If accidentally swallowed

obtain immediate medical attention - Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Notes to physician:

Risks:

Risk of pneumonia - Risk of spasmogenic effect - Health injuries may be delayed - Later control for pneumonia and lung oedema.

Treatment:

Exposure quickly causes a strong corrosive action upon all body tissue - Aspiration may cause pulmonary oedema and pneumonitis - Prompt

administration of corticosteroid spray - Calcium gluconate solution - Call a physician or Poison Control Centre immediately - First aid,

decontamination, symptomatic treatment - Symptoms of poisoning may not appear for several hours - Keep under medical supervision for at least

48 hours

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: water spray, alcohol-resistant foam.

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: carbon dioxide (CO2), dry powder

Special hazards during fire fighting:

In case of fire or heat toxic/harmful gases, vapours and pyrolysis products may be formed of the substance, e.g. Carbon monoxide (CO), Nitrogen

oxides (NOx), Ammonia (NH3) - In case of area fire pressure increase and danger of.

Specific hazards during fire fighting:

Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health - May form explosive mixtures with air - Flash back possible over considerable

distance - Vapours are heavier than air combustible material.

Fire fighting / advice:

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water seperately. This must not be discharged into drains - Fire residues and contaminated fire

extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations - Cool containers / tanks with water spray.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protection clothing - Do not inhale explosion and combustion gases.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Ensure adequate ventilation - Keep unauthorized persons away - Keep away from ignition sources - Wear respiratory protection - Immediately

evacuate danger zone and seek safe cover - Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Environmental precautions: Do not allow  to reach into waters, drains or the ground.

Methods for cleaning up:

Pick up mechanical after absorption - Fill in labelled, resealable container - Clean contaminated surface thoroughly with: ammonium thiosulphate,

5% aqueous solution - Do not allow  to reach into waters, drains or the ground - Ensure sufficient ventilation - Flush with water - Soak up with inert

absorbent material and dispose of as hazardous waste.

Suitable binder or medium for neutralisation: Chemical binders containing acids - Solid ammonium thiosulphate.

Additional advice in case of release: Odour fighting with: ammonium thiosulphate, 5% aqueous solution.

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support

safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with

risk-based management systems is available at each Manufacturing site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has

been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Manufacturer/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.

Handling

Protection measure : Vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors - Provide exhaust ventilation near floor ground.

Advice on safe handling :

Use the required personal safety equipment for all types of work (see exposure controls/personal protection) - Containers only open under

extraction system - Refill and handle product only in closed system - Ensure sufficient ventilation - Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes - Do

not inhale vapours/dusts/aerosols - Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition - Avoid moisture - Avoid spilling and

spraying within closed rooms - Container hazardous when empty - Explosive on ignition.

Appliance requirements :

Solvent-resistant - Do not use spark-producing tools - Earthing required - Unsuitable material: rubber, metal, heavy metal.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

No smoking - Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition - Vapours can form explosive mixtures with air - Take measures

to avoid electrostatic charges - In case of fire cool endangered containers with water combustible material - Vapours can cross over large

distances to ignition sources.

Storage

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep locked up - Prevent unauthorized access.

Storage container : No glass, unbreakable containers

German storage class : 3A

Advice on common storage : Do not store with: Fire-promoting substances, oxidizing solid, acids.

Storage temperature : <= 35 °C
