Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
weight of evidence
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
other (measured): equilibration: shake flask; analytical method: GC
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
shake-flask method to: flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Supplier: Tokyo Kasei Co. (Tokyo)
Analytical method:
gas chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
1.38
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
ca. 7
Remarks on result:
other: The test originally was performed at room temperature and without a pH-value mentioned. Therefor we assumed a temperature of 20 °C. The test substance has no effect on the pH-value therefor it is assumed to be ca. pH: 7.0.

Study was performed without adjustment of pH value.

Conclusions:
Using a valid scientific method the partition coefficient of the substance was 1.38 at 20C.
Executive summary:

Using a valid scientific method the partition coefficient of the substance was 1.38 at 20C.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
weight of evidence
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
shake-flask method to: flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Methyl methacrylate from Ineos Acrylics, Batch No. Acrylics 98/15, purity: > 99 %
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
1.32
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
ca. 7
Conclusions:
Log Pow of methyl methacrylate was tested with the shake flask method equivalent to OECD 107. Log Pow was determined with 1.32.

Description of key information

Two experimental studies for the determination of octanol-water partition coefficient are available according shake flask method with with nearly similar results: Log Kow 1.38 and log Kow 1.32. The highest value is used as key value.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
1.38
at the temperature of:
20 °C
