Description of key information

Two studies were provided for this endpoint:
In the Saxena, 1987 study, Dinoseb at a concentration of 28 mg/L was photodegraded in the buffer solution pH 7 for 17 days at 25 ºC.
Half-life (DT50):
t1/2: 33.3 d (Continuous light (24 hours sunlight/day))
t1/2: 66.6 d (Natural light (12 hours sunlight/day))
Transformation products: yes, at least two photoproducts were detected
In the Blair, 1986 study, Dinoseb at concentrations of 5 and 10 mg/L was irradiated in the buffer solution (pH 7) using artificial as well as natural sunlight. Dinoseb was photodegraded rapidly under natural sunlight conditions when compared with the artificial sunlight.
Half-life (DT50):
t1/2: 12 to 18 days (Natural sunlight (12 hours light/day))
t1/2: 102 d (Artificial sunlight results extrapolated to natural conditions)
Transformation products: At least 8 photodegradation products were detected

Both supporting studies were assigned a reliability rating of 1, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the studies were conducted according to standard methodology with analytical verification of test concentrations and GLP.
