Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Version / remarks:
photocell method
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
other: Photocel method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Lot# UN3261
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
169 °C

The sample was placed into a melting point capillary tube and heated in the metal block in the instrument. During the course of heating, sample decomposition was observed, which was indicated by its color change from white to a brownish color. The heating parameters used were 165 - 185°C at 0.5°C/minute. The onset of a slow color change was observed at about 169°C, indicating decomposition.

Conclusions:
Melting point of 2-Hydroxyethyliminodi(acetic acid) was measured using photocel method following OECD 102 guidance requirements. It is not possible to determine melting point as substance is decomposing before reaching boiling point. Decomposition starts at approximately 169 C.
Executive summary:

Melting point of 2-Hydroxyethyliminodi(acetic acid) was measured using photocel method following OECD 102 guidance requirements. It is not possible to determine melting point as substance is decomposing before reaching boiling point. Decomposition starts at approximately 169 C.
