The photolytical dissipation half-live of 1,2 -dichloro-4 -nitorbenzene was estimated to be 321 days assuming a sensitiser concentration of 0.5E06 OH-molecules/cm³ (Bayer, 2003). Calculation was performed using AOPWIN program.

Based on the results of several tests there is evidence that 1,2-dichloro-4-nitrobenzene is not readily biodegradable (Bayer 1983, Bayer 1984; Hoechst 1982).

The bioaccumulation of 1,2-dichloro-4-nitrobenzene was tested using Cyprinus carpio as test organism after an exposure duration of 8 weeks in a flow-through system. Two concentrations were tested (5 µg/L and 50 µg/L). The BCF ranged between 25 and 65 (MITI, 1992).

The Koc of 1,2-dichloro-4-nitrobenzene accounts for 417 (logKow= 2.62) and was determined according to the OECD guideline 106 (1987) at a temperature of 25 °C (Wu et al., 2001).

The experimentally determined HLC accounts for 0.818 Pa*m³/mol (25 °C) (Altschuh et al., 1999).
