Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Long-term toxicity to invertebrates: 21-d NOEC ≥0.000047 mg/l (arithmetic mean measured) (highest concentration tested) (OECD 211), based on hatching, larval survival, abnormal appearance and behaviour in Daphnia magna, read across from an analogous/structurally related substance, dodecamethylpentasiloxane (L5, CAS 141-63-9).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There are no reliable long-term invertebrate toxicity data available for tetradecamethylhexasiloxane (L6, CAS 107-52-8), therefore good quality data for an appropriate structural analogue, dodecamethylpentasiloxane (L5, CAS 141-63-9), have been read across.

A 21-d NOEC of ≥47 ng/l (0.000047 mg/l) (arithmetic mean measured) has been determined for the effects of the analogous substance, dodecamethylpentasiloxane (L5, CAS 141-63-9) on reproduction and survival of Daphnia magna in a Daphnia magna reproduction test (OECD 211). In view of the exposure regime it is likely that the test organisms were exposed primarily to the tested substance rather than its degradation products.

Refer to IUCLID Section 6 endpoint summary (CSR Section 7.0) for further information on the approach to chemical safety assessment for this registration substance, and justification for read-across used.
