Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Inhibition of degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of cyclohexanone towards aquatic microorganisms was studied by several authors. The most reliable study was performed by Volskay and Grady (1988). In modified OECD 209 guideline test, adapted to highly volatile substances, the EC50 (30 min) was determined as > 1000 mg/L. Therefore, cyclohexanone is unlikely to inhibit the degradation activity of activated sludge in wastewater treatment plants. This result has been used for the derivation of PNECSTP.
