Additional information

The reference literature indicates that the boiling point of the test substance is 194 °C at 100.7 kPa (CRC, 2004; Appendix 1). The validity of the reference literature boiling point is supported by the experimental data on a structural analogue. The literature source reported the boiling point of the analogue, 3-chloro-o-xylene, as 186 °C at 101.3 kPa (CRC, 2004; Appendix 1). An experimentally derived boiling point of the analogue was found to be 191 °C at 102.3 kPa (Reimer, 2004) and calculations showed that it was the same at the slightly lower pressure of 101.3 kPa. This reported boiling point of the analogue (186 °C) differed from the experimental value (191 °C; Reimer, 2004) by 3 %, suggesting acceptable agreement of the experimental and reported boiling point.
