Justification for classification or non-classification
In the absence of any mutagenic activity and as there are no indications for the induction of hyperplasia or pre-neoplastic lesions in repeated dose toxicity studies, findings do not meet criteria for classification according to the rules laid down in Directive 67/548/EEC and in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. Therefore classification is not warrantable.
Additional information
No studies investigating the carcinogenic potential of Manganese Oxalate are available. Tests on mutagenicity in vitro gave negative results, i.e. Manganese Oxalate is not mutagenic in vitro with or without metabolic activation. Additionally, investigations on repeated dose toxicity gave no indication for the induction of hyperplasia or pre-neoplastic lesions. Manganese Oxalate is considered likely not to be bioavailable in relevant amounts. Therefore, it is concluded that Manganese Oxalate is not carcinogenic and has not to be classified as carcinogenic.
