Description of key information

The biodegradability of cis-cyclooctene was evaluated by Hüls (1998) according to EU-Method C.4 -C (CO2 Evolution Test / Modified Storm Test) over a period of 28 days. Under the present test conditions no biodegradation was observed (1 % after 28 days). These results are supported by a second test (BOD test for insoluble substances) conducted by Hüls AG (1996) where 28% degradation was found within a period of 28 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed
