First-aid measures

Remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:

Immediately administer a corticosteroid from a controlled/metered dose inhaler.

On skin contact:

Immediately wash thoroughly with plenty of water, apply sterile dressings, consult a skin specialist.

On contact with eyes:

Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:

Immediately rinse mouth and then drink 200-300 ml of water, seek medical attention.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: The most important known symptoms and effects are described in the labelling (see section 2) and/or in section 11.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:

dry powder

Additional information:

Use extinguishing measures to suit surroundings.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Has a fire-promoting effect due to release of oxygen. Decomposes on heating.

Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:

Substance/product is an oxidizing agent and can supply oxygen to stimulate or accelerate the combustion of organic or other combustible substances/products. Product itself is non-combustible; fire extinguishing method of surrounding areas must be considered. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Avoid dust formation. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing. Information regarding personal protective measures

Environmental precautions

Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Avoid raising dust. Dampen, pick up mechanically and dispose of. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations. Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. Reclaim for processing if possible.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid dust formation. Avoid inhalation of dusts. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Provide suitable exhaust ventilation at the processing machines. Keep away from combustible material.

Protection against fire and explosion:

The substance/product is non-combustible. Has a fire-promoting effect due to release of oxygen.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Segregate from peroxides. Segregate from self-heating substances. Segregate from easily combustible substances.

Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed and dry; store in a cool place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Body protection:

Depending on the risk, wear a tight, long apron and boots or suitable chemical protection suit.

Respiratory protection:

In an emergency (e.g.: unintentional release of the substance) respiratory protection must be worn. Consider the maximum period for wear.

Respiratory protection: Particle filter P2 or P3, colour code white.

Use insulating device for concentrations above the usage limits for filter devices, for oxygen concentrations below 17% volume, or in circumstances which are unclear.

Eye protection:

Sufficient eye protection must be worn.

Wear chemical safety goggles.

If the face is at risk a protective shield must also be worn.

Hand protection:

Use protective gloves. The glove material must be sufficiently impermeable and resistant to the substance. Check the tightness before wear. Gloves should be well cleaned before being removed, then stored in a well ventilated location. Pay attention to skin care.

Skin protection cremes do not protect sufficiently against the substance.

Textile or leather gloves are completely unsuitable.

The following materials are suitable for protective gloves:

Nitrile rubber/Nitrile latex - NBR

Occupational hygiene:

Foods, beverages and other articles of consumption must not be consumed at the work areas. Suitable areas are to be designated for these purposes.

Avoid contact with skin. In case of contact wash skin.

Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact rinse the affected eye(s).

Avoid inhalation of dust.

Avoid contact with clothing. Contaminated clothes must be exchanged and cleaned carefully.

Before a break it might be necessary to change clothes.

Provide washrooms with showers and if possible rooms with separate storage for street clothing and work clothing.

The skin must be washed with soap and water before breaks and at the end of work. Apply fatty skin-care products after washing.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

When heated can give off ignitable vapours.

Chemical stability

The product is chemically stable.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Reacts as a strong oxidizing agent with all oxidizable organic and inorganic substances. Reacts with reducing agents. Contact with combustible material may cause fire.

Conditions to avoid

Avoid dust formation. Avoid extreme heat.

Incompatible materials

Substances to avoid:

organic compounds, reducing agents, flammable, oxidizable substances, inorganic sulfides

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Dispose of in accordance with national, state and local regulations.

Contact specialized companies about recycling.

Waste key:

06 03 13¤ solid salts and solutions containing heavy metals

Contaminated packaging:

Dispose of in accordance with national, state and local regulations.

Contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible and disposed of in the same manner as the substance/product.
