Substance characterisation

(Hydroxyethyl)urea is well-soluble in water (±720 g/L). It has a measured log Kow of -1.8 and low calculated Koc of 0.31 L/kg. Based on these results, sorption to organic material and lipids will be limited and bioaccumulation is not expected to occur. With the low Henry's Law Constant (2.17 * 10^(-7) Pa .m3/mol at 20°C) the rate of volatilization is considered negligible.

The substance is readily biodegradable when tested under standard test conditions according to OECD TG 301B.

Considering the low sorption potential of the substance a rapid degradation in soil and sediment is anticipated.
