Additional information

Cosmetic Ingredient Review (1995)

The substance did not have mutagenic activity in the Ames, micronucleus, or recessive lethal test. The substance had antimutagenic activity toward AFB using S. typhimurium strain TA100 but not strain TA98. DNA single-strand breaks were increased in cultures of E. coli strains B/r and Bs-1, after irradiation when the substance was added compared with those irradiated without substance addition. The substance decreased the survival of strain B/r, but it had no effect on E. coli strain pol A.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to genetic toxicity.
