Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

After inhalation: Provide fresh air. In case of irritation of the respiratory tract seek medical advice.

After contact with skin:  Wash with plenty of soap and water. Change contaminated clothing

After contact with eyes: Rinse immediately carefully and thoroughly with eye-bath or water. In case of continued irritation, seek medical advice.

After ingestion:  Flush mouth with water and drink water. Seek medical attention if concerned.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Extinguishing materials should be selected according to the surrounding area.

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: No known incompatabilities with extinguishing media. Water jet should not be used as this may spread the fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Substance is not classified as flammable.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: In case of fire: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Special firefighting procedures: Use standard firefighting procedures and consider the hazards of other involved materials. Move containers from fire area if you can do so without risk.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Remove all sources of ignition. Keep dust to a minimum using a fine water spray if necessary.

Environmental precautions: No special environmental protection measures are necessary.

Methods for cleaning up/taking up: Collect mechanically keeping dust generation to a minimum. Re-Use or dispose of according to the section on waste disposal

Handling and storage

Handling:

Avoid generation of dust. Use in a well ventilated area. If natural ventilation is inadequate use local exhaust ventilation.

Storage

Keep container dry. Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place. The substance is hygroscopic and will pick up moisture from the air rendering it less useful in its capacity to adsorb moisture

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering Controls:

Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to keep airborne levels below recommended exposure limits. If user operations generate dust, fume or mist, use ventilation to keep exposure to airborne contaminants below the exposure limit.

Personal Protection:

Safety glasses. Lab coat. Dust respirator. Be sure to use an approved/certified respirator or equivalent. Gloves.

Personal Protection in Case of a Large Spill:

Splash goggles. Full suit. Dust respirator. Boots. Gloves. A self contained breathing apparatus should be used to avoid inhalation of the product. Suggested protective clothing might not be sufficient; consult a specialist BEFORE handling this product.

Exposure Limits:

The dust is generally classed as a 'nuisance dust' and should be kept within the limits set for each country, if appropriate.

TWA: 2 (mg/m3) from ACGIH (TLV) [United States] Respirable.

TWA: 2 (mg/m3) from OSHA (PEL) [United States] Respirable.

TWA: 2 (mg/m3) from NIOSH [United States] Respirable.

TWA: 1 (mg/m3) [United Kingdom (UK)]

Respirable.Consult local authorities for acceptable exposure limits.
