First-aid measures

General information

Immediate medical attention is required. Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to protect themselves. Keep victim warm. In case of shortness of breath, give oxygen.

Description of first aid measures

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Do not use mouth-to-mouth method if victim inhaled the substance. Induce artificial respiration with the aid of a pocket mask equipped with a one-way valve or other proper respiratory medical device.

Skin contact

In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention immediately.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.

Ingestion

If material is ingested, immediately contact a physician or poison control centre. Have victim

rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Never give anything by mouth to a victim who is unconscious or

is having convulsions. Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. If vomiting occurs naturally,

have victim lean forward to reduce risk of aspiration.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Corrosive effects. The product causes burns of eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Permanent eye  damage including blindness could result.

Indication of any immediate  medical attention and special treatment  needed. Symptoms may be delayed. If evacuation of stomach contents is necessary, use method least likely to cause aspiration. This material, if aspirated into the lungs, may cause chemical pneumonitis; treat the affected person

appropriately.

Fire-fighting measures

General fire hazards

Fire and explosion hazards are moderate when this product is exposed to heat or flame.

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media

Small Fires: Dry chemical, CO2, water spray or regular foam.

Large Fires: Water spray, fog or regular foam.

Unsuitable extinguishing media

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Irritating and toxic gases or fumes may be released during a fire. Decomposition of this product may emit oxides of nitrogen and

carbon monoxide.

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters

Wear full protective clothing, including helmet, self-contained positive pressure or pressure demand breathing apparatus,

protective clothing and face mask.

Special firefighting procedures

Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk. Do not scatter spilled material with high pressure water streams.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency  procedures

For non-emergency personnel Avoid contact with spilled material. For emergency  responders

Keep unnecessary personnel away. Ventilate closed spaces before entering. Do not touch damaged

containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Remove all sources

of ignition. Stay upwind.

Environmental precautions

Not available.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning  up

Eliminate all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks, or flames in immediate area).

Extinguish all flames in the vicinity. Should not be released into the environment. Prevent entry

into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Dike far ahead of liquid spill for later

disposal. Move the cylinder to a safe and open area if the leak is irreparable.

Large Spills: Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Move the cylinder to a safe and

open area if the leak is irreparable. Use a non-combustible material like vermiculite, sand or

earth to soak up the product and place into a container for later disposal.

Never return spills to original containers for re-use. Clean up in accordance with all applicable

regulations.

Small Spills: Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean contaminated surface

thoroughly. For waste disposal, see section 13.

Reference to other sections

See Section 8 for personal protective equipment. For waste disposal, see section 13.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Do not breathe gas/fumes/vapour/spray. Do not get this material in your eyes, on your skin, or on your clothing. Wash hands after

handling and before eating. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit. Do not handle or store near an open

flame, heat or other sources of ignition.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Store away from strong oxidizers. Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Keep container tightly closed. Store in a closed

container away from incompatible materials. Keep in a well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls

Explosion-proof exhaust ventilation should be used. Attempts should be made to eliminate all contact with skin and eyes, and to

limit inhalation exposure.

Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment

General information

Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Wear suitable protective equipment.

Eye/face protection

Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles) and a face shield. Provide an emergency eye wash fountain and quick

drench shower in the immediate work area.
