Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Effects on fertility

Effect on fertility: via inhalation route
Dose descriptor:
NOAEC
2 873 mg/m³
Additional information

Due to the lack of sufficient data regarding effects on fertility, data for the analogue substance 3,5,5-Trimethyl-2 -cyoclohexen-1-one (CAS No. 78-59-1) were taken into account. Male and female rats were exposed to 500 ppm (2873 mg/m³) by inhalation for three months prior to mating. No substance related effects on fertility and fetuses were found. Thus, it can be assumed, that due to the structural similarities 2,5,6- Trimethyl-2-cyoclohexen-1-one also would have no adverse effect on fertility.

Short description of key information:
Effects on fertility:
- NOAEC = 2873 mg/m^3 (rat, inhalative)

Effects on developmental toxicity

Description of key information
Developmental toxicity/teratogenicity:
- maternal: NOAEC = 0.644 mg/l = 644 mg/m^3 (rat, inhalative)
- teratogenic: NOAEC = 0.644 mg/l = 644 mg/m^3 (rat, inhalative)
Effect on developmental toxicity: via inhalation route
Dose descriptor:
NOAEC
664 mg/m³
Additional information

Due to the lack of sufficient data regarding developmental toxicity/teratogenicity, data for the analogue substance 3,5,5-Trimethyl-2 -cyoclohexen-1-one (CAS No. 78-59-1) were taken into account. In an inhalative study with rats, no substance related effects on dams and fetuses were found at doses of 0.144, 0.289 and 0.664 mg/l, so the resulting NOAEC was 0.644 mg/l or 644 mg/m^3, respectively.

Thus, it can be assumed, that due to the structural similarities 2,5,6- Trimethyl-2-cyoclohexen-1-one also would have no adverse effects on developmental toxicity/teratogenicity in the range of the tested concentrations.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Due to the results obtained in studies with the structural analogue 3,5,5-Trimethyl-2 -cyoclohexen-1-one (CAS No. 78-59-1) no classification for fertility or developmental toxicity/tertogenicity is necessary.
