Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
71.6
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
1 000

Additional information

The surface tension of the test material was determined under GLP conditions and in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 115 and EU Method A.5, following the ring method. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in line with the criteria of Klimisch et al. (1997).

The surface tension of the test item aqueous solution read on the instrument was 71.8 mN/m at 20 °C using the ring method representing the mean of five separate measurements.

The measured surface tension was multiplied by φa and corrected with Harkins-Jordan factor resulting in a corrected surface tension of 71.6 mN/m. As the result is greater than 60 mN/m, the test material is not considered to be surface active.
