Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key value for freshwater has been selected from Blom study and the Seeland publication showing the lowest available effect concentration after exposure with the analogue 1H-Benzotriazole. Key values for marine water have been taken from study with Tolyltriazole.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
75 mg/L
EC50 for marine water algae:
53 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1.18 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for marine water algae:
30 mg/L

Additional information

Two freshwater tests with two different green algae species exposed to the analogue 1H-Benzotriazole are available. Key values for the chemical safety assessment are selected from both OECD 201 guideline studies as the acute effect value has been calculated in the Blom study only while the publication of Seeland show the lower EC10 effect concentration. However, both values show a moderate toxicity towards freshwater algae.

In addition, a test with marine water exposing Skeletonema costatum to Tolyltriazole is available showing a moderate toxicity.
