GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
column elution method
Water solubility:
< 0.025 mg/L
Temp.:
19.9 °C
pH:
6.3 - 8.2
Remarks on result:
other: The turbidity of the eluates was < 0.2 NTU. According to this, no undissolved particles were detected in the eluates.
Details on results:
The column elution method was applied for the determination of the water solubility of 2,2-Bis[[3-(dodecylthio)-1-oxopropoxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bis[3-(dodecylthio)propionate].
All analysed concentrations of the water-solubility samples were below the lower limit of quantification (LLOQ, 0.025 mg/l). 2,2-Bis[[3-(dodecylthio)-1-oxopropoxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bis[3-(dodecylthio)propionate] was detected in high quantities when the loaded column material was analysed. This proved that the column was not depleted when the water solubility samples were taken.
Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): insoluble (< 0.1 mg/L)
All analysed concentrations of the water-solubility samples were below the lower limit of quantification (LLOQ, 0.025 mg/l).
Executive summary:

The purpose of the study was to determine the water solubility of 2,2-Bis[[3-(dodecylthio)-1-oxopropoxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bis[3-(dodecylthio)propionate].

The study was performed to the following guidelines:

European Community (EC), EC no. 260/2014, Part A: Methods for the Determination of Physico-Chemical Properties, Guideline A.6: “Water Solubility”, Official Journal of the European Union no. L81, March 19, 2014.

Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals no. 105: "Water Solubility", July 27, 1995.

United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Product Properties Test Guidelines no. OPPTS 830.7840: "Water Solubility: Column Elution Method; Shake Flask Method", March 1998.

The column elution method was applied for the determination of the water solubility of 2,2-Bis[[3- (dodecylthio)-1-oxopropoxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bis[3-(dodecylthio)propionate].

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
0.025 mg/L
at the temperature of:
19.9 °C
