Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Short-term toxicity of the substance was determined in a 96 -hour static test according to OECD 203 withBrachidanio rerioand gives a LC50 = 73.9 mg/L. The read-across substance caused an elevated short-term toxicity to fish: LC50 = 9.5 mg/L which can be related to toxic effects of potassium to fish. Read-across of Octanesulfonate and the counter ion potassium is, therefore, possible and does not lead to an underestimation of toxic effects.

Thus, read across is also possible with daphnids and algae since the neuro toxicant tetraethyl ammonium is not expected to be hazardous to daphnids and algae and effects of potassium can be assumed to be more critical.
