First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General information: Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Inhalation: Move affected person to fresh air at once. If breathing stops, provide artificial respiration. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Skin contact: Remove affected person from source of contamination. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Eye contact: Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

General information: The severity of the symptoms described will vary dependent on the concentration and the length of exposure.

Inhalation: May cause respiratory system irritation.

Ingestion: May cause discomfort if swallowed.

Skin contact: Prolonged contact may cause redness, irritation and dry skin.

Eye contact: May cause temporary eye irritation.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Notes for the doctor: No specific recommendations. Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Extinguish with foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Specific hazards: Protection against nuisance dust must be used when the airborne concentration exceeds 10 mg/m^3.

Hazardous combustion products: Carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon monoxide (CO). Nitrous gases (NOx).

Advice for firefighters

Protective actions during firefighting: No specific firefighting precautions known.

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear positive-pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and appropriate protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions: Wear protective clothing as described in ‘Exposure controls/Personal Protection’.

Environmental precautions

Environmental precautions: Collect and dispose of spillage as indicated in ‘Disposal Considerations’.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up: Avoid generation and spreading of dust. Remove spillage with vacuum cleaner. If not possible, collect spillage with shovel, broom or the like. Collect and place in suitable waste disposal containers and seal securely. Label the containers containing waste and contaminated materials and remove from the area as soon as possible.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Usage precautions: Avoid spilling. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid handling which leads to dust formation. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Storage precautions: Store in tightly-closed, original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

Storage class: Chemical storage.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

Ingredient comments: No exposure limits known for ingredient(s).

Exposure controls: Protective equipment

Appropriate engineering controls: Provide adequate general and local exhaust ventilation.

Eye/face protection: Eyewear complying with an approved standard should be worn if a risk assessment indicates eye contact is possible. Unless the assessment indicates a higher degree of protection is required, the following protection should be worn: Tight-fitting safety glasses.

Hand protection: Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard should be worn if a risk assessment indicates skin contact is possible. It is recommended that gloves are made of the following material: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Rubber (natural, latex).

Other skin and body protection: Provide eyewash station and safety shower. Wear appropriate clothing to prevent any possibility of skin contact.

Hygiene measures: Use engineering controls to reduce air contamination to permissible exposure level. Wash at the end of each work shift and before eating, smoking and using the toilet.

Respiratory protection: If ventilation is inadequate, suitable respiratory protection must be worn. Wear a suitable dust mask.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Reactivity: There are no known reactivity hazards associated with this product.

Chemical stability

Stability: Stable at normal ambient temperatures and when used as recommended.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Will not polymerise.

Conditions to avoid

Conditions to avoid: Avoid exposure to high temperatures or direct sunlight.

Incompatible materials

Materials to avoid: Strong oxidising agents. Strong reducing agents. Strong acids. Strong alkalis.

Hazardous decomposition products

Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon monoxide (CO). Nitrous gases (NOx).

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

General information: When handling waste, the safety precautions applying to handling of the product should be considered.

Disposal methods: With clean shovel place material into dry container, cover and move. Dispose of waste to licensed waste disposal site in accordance with the requirements of the local Waste Disposal Authority. Waste material and any included combustible absorbent and containers should be suitable for incineration at an approved facility.
