Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
calculation (if not (Q)SAR)
Remarks:
For an organometallic substance QSAR is not possible
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
22 May 2013
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
1-Octanol solubility of a pigment powder is determined by use of the flask method. Pigment
particles are suspended in 1-octanol at a temperature somewhat above the test temperature.
When saturation is achieved, the mixture is cooled down and kept at the test temperature.
The solubility evaluation of the pigment particles is performed by visual observation. The
described test method is based on regulation (EC) No 440/2008 (test methods pursuant to
Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) section A.6 and OECD guideline 105.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: C.I. Pigment Violet 3:4 (CAS 67989-22-4), Product code / batch: 0348F / 130352, Source Sponsor
Analytical method:
not specified
other: Solubility in n-octanol is determined visually
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
1
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
7
Remarks on result:
other: N-octanol <0.1 mg/L and water solubility<0.1 mg/L therefore estimate only provided
Details on results:
test item n-octanol solubility is < 0.1 mg/L and water solubility is <0.1 mg/L therefore Log P could not be accurately determined estimate only provided.
Conclusions:
test item n-octanol solubility is < 0.1 mg/L and water solubility is <0.1 mg/L therefore Log P could not be accurately determined estimate only of Log Pow = 1 provided.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
1
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Test item n-octanol solubility is < 0.1 mg/L and water solubility is <0.1 mg/L Therefore the partition

coefficient estimate was only provided as log Pow = 1.
