Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guideline:
other: Analytical Expert Group ETAD
Version / remarks:
method for substances with very low solubility in both, water and n-octanol
Type of method:
estimation method (solubility ratio)
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
photometric method
Type:
Pow
Partition coefficient:
133.1
Temp.:
24 °C
pH:
ca. 7
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
2.12
Temp.:
24 °C
pH:
ca. 7

The octanol and the water solubility were both determined at 24-25 °C.

It is not possible to enter a temperature range in the field above, therefore 24 °C was taken as the temperature value.

Calculation:

log Kow = logP = log (c(n-octanol)/c(water))

(c: individual solubilities; see below).

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Justification for type of information:
the partition coefficient of hardly soluble organic pigments is determined by an estimation method (solubilty ratio). Method and test procedure had been elaborated by ETAD. The determination of the water solubility and the n-octanol solubilty of the nanomaterial is covered by read-across based on the corresponding results of the bulk material. Consequently read-across of the estimated partition coefficient is also performed.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
read-across source

log Pow
