Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The boiling point could not be determined as the Differential Scanning Calorimetry experiment showed that the substance decomposed before the boiling point was reached.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

During the manufacture of DAPD, the chemical is heat-stripped to remove the more volatile starting materials remaining as residues in the product. The temperature for this process exceeds 325 degrees C while a vacuum is created in the stripper to pressure levels below 2 psi. Under these extreme conditions, the product is melted without indication for boiling. These process conditions correspond to a corrected temperature of more than 415 °C at atmospheric pressure according to recalculation using a nomogram. As shown in the Differential Scanning Calorimetry experiment, the substance decomposes at 350°C. As a consequence, it is not possible to define an exact boiling point for DAPD.
