Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Classification justification according to CLP

Based on the data above the substance Ethyl 9-oxo-9H-thioxanthene-2-carboxylate (CAS 83817-60-1) is not rapidly biodegradable. Acute aquatic toxicity data are available for two trophic levels. No acute effects were determined up to the highest tested concentration of 100 mg/L. Chronic toxicity data are available only for algae. No chronic effects were observed up to the highest tested concentration of 100 mg/L. Therefore, the substance is not classified and labelled as hazardous to the environment according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (dated: 01.01.2017) and further amendments (ATPs).
