Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

Substance Fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts has no oxidising properties, it does not contain a surplus of oxygen or any structural groups known to be correlated with a tendency to react exothermically with combustible material.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, section 7.13, column 2, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, for example on the basis of the chemical structure (e. g. inorganic substances not containing oxygen or halogen atoms). Substance Fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts does not contain a surplus of oxygen or any structural groups known to be correlated with a tendency to react exothermally with combustible material. Derogation from testing is hereby applied for.

Justification for classification or non-classification

There are no chemical groups present in substance Fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts which are associated with oxidising properties.

According to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) of the United Nations, substance Fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts does not have to be classified for oxidising properties. According to the criteria of REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008, substance Fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts does not have to be classified and has no obligatory labelling requirement for oxidising properties.
