Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

LC50 (96 h) = 4.4 mg/L on Salmo trutta (static bioassay)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity of o-, m-, and p-cresol to fish was determined in a static bioassay on several freshwater species (Howland, 1969). After an exposure period of 96 h the following most critical toxicity values were found on the single isomers:

o-cresol: LC50 = 6.2 mg/L on Salmo trutta

m-cresol: LC50 = 7.6 mg/L on Salvelinus fontinalis

p-cresol: LC50 = 4.4 mg/L on Salmo trutta
