Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Data from Neononanoic acid was used as read across to the C10-18 neo-fatty acids and evaluated for ready biodegradability in O.E.C.D. Test Guideline 301 B Modified Sturm Test. The level of biodegradation of the test substance under the conditions of the test was 0% after 42 days. Neononanoic acid was not readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

Based on the results of the O.E.C.D. Test Guideline readily biodegradation study with neononanoic acid, the C10 -18 neofatty acids is not readily biodegradable.
