Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One ready biodegradation study is available for Fatty acids, C16-18, butyl esters (CAS No. 85408-76-0).

This key ready biodegradability study was carried out with Fatty acids, C16-18, butyl esters (CAS No. 85408-76-0), following the ISO method 10708 (BODIS test) (Richterich, 2001). Domestic, non-adapted activated sludge was used as inoculum. During the 28-day test period, biodegradation reached 82%, based on O2 consumption. The 10-day window criterion, defined for mono-constituent substances, was met, although it would not be required since the substance is a UVCBs.

In conclusion, Fatty acids, C16-18, butyl esters (CAS No. 85408-76-0) can be considered as readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
