Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The toxicity of the test substance to the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to the principles of OECD 201 (2011) and Council Regulation (EC) No. 761/2009 C.3 in a static growth inhibition test under GLP conditions. After 72 hours the NOEC was determined to be 0.626 mg/L, the ErC10 was determined to be 2.75 mg/L and the ErC50 was determined to be 4.68 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
4.68 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
2.75 mg/L

Additional information

In a key static growth inhibition test, the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed over 72 hours to the test substance according to the principles of OECD 201 (2011) and Council Regulation (EC) No. 761/2009 C.3 under GLP conditions. Exponentially growing algal cells were exposed for a period of 72 hours to a range of concentrations, nominally 0.313 - 0.626 - 1.25 - 2.50 - 5.00 mg/L. The concentrations of the test substance were measured via HPLC-DAD at the start and the end of exposure. The recovery rates ranged from 94 and 103 % of nominal values at 0 hours (5.0, 2.48, 1.26, 0.585 and 0.321 mg/L), and from 98 to 104 % of nominal values at 72 hours (5.04, 2.50, 1.22. 0.648 and 0.310 mg/L), respectively. After 72 hours the NOEC was determined to be 0.626 mg/L, the ErC10 was determined to be 2.75 mg/L and the ErC50 was determined to be 4.68 mg/L. All results are expressed in terms of nominal concentrations.
