Any other information on results incl. tables

Since the 65% aqueous nitric acid reference substance is very aggressive for the apparatus, the test substance 45% sodium nitrate aqueous solution, less aggressive and having a tabulated value (4133 ms) in the same range, was used for this study.

Cellulose was dried at 105 °C and the average size of the granules was 50 µm.

The mean pressure rise time for the reference item mixture (1:1 w/w mixture 45% sodium nitrate aqueous solution and cellulose) was 3678 ms, while the mean pressure rise time for the test item mixture (1:1 w/w mixture test item and cellulose) was 9703 ms.

Since the time for the test item mixture was greater than that one found for the reference substance mixture, the test item was considered to be a non-oxidiser.
