Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention, do not induce vomiting

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and

sulphur oxides together with some hydrogen chloride gas and

soot. Water mist, foam, carbon dioxide and dry powder can

be used as extinguishing agents.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Powder:   Sweep up and dispose of material at a landfill

site or by incineration. Solutions: Soak up on absorbent

material and dispose of at a landfill site or by

incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: Minimise exposure by use of engineering controls, standard

occupational hygiene procedures and good housekeeping.

Eye/face protection, head covering and impermeable gloves

(plastic or rubber) should be used. Weighing to be in an

enclosed ventilated area and on low level scales for ease

of handling.

Storage: No special precautions.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Dyebath residues are not recoverable

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No hazardous effects have been observed during testing.

Therefore, neutralisation is not necessary.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a landfill site is possible (observe local

regulations).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal at an incinerator equipped to deal with the acidic

waste gases (nitrogen and sulphor oxides and hydrogen

chloride gas) is possible. The formation of dioxins is

considered unlikely.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: In view of the toxicity to fish, the waste water from

dyebaths should be diluted tenfold before discharging to a

sewage plant. The substance is not biodegradable; it will

be eliminated from sludge by sedimentation and absorption.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from dyed material is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Dyed material may be disposed of as for household material.
