Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: not applicable

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately rinse eye(s) with plenty of water for at least

15 minutes with eyelids held open; consult a physician.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing immediately.

Immediately wash affected skin thoroughly with plenty of

water, apply sterile dressings, consult a physician.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Immediately rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water, do

not induce vomiting, consult a physician

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry chemical, CO2

Product arising from burning: CO2, CO and NOx

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Self contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Recover on a suitable absorbant such as sawdust and dispose

of in accordance with local regulations.

Wear suitable protective clothing (rubber apron, gloves,

chemical goggles)

Containers filled with recovered, spilt material should be

labelled adequately in accordance to TRGS 201.

Handling and storage

Handling: Individuals handling undiluted ZOLDINE MS-52 should wear

protective equipment consisting of gloves, chemical goggles

and rubber apron.

Recommended process conditions:

- closed process systems

- if not possible: good local ventilation of the room and

local exhaust ventilation necessary

- splash-proof filling and dosing systems should be used.

Storage: Store dry in tightly closed, unbreakable original

containers.

Provide good ventilation.

Protect containers against fall-down.

Avoid product residues on containers.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: When hydrolyzed, the product releases 5-methyl-2-hexanone

which is a flammable liquid.

Chemical reaction with water: Hydrolyzes rapidly.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: None, in use the compound reacts with water to completely

hydrolyze to its starting material.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Treatment with solutions of acid in water will hydrolyze the

compound and neutralize the amino alcohol which is primarily

responsible for skin and eye irritation. Hydrolysis release

MIAK which is a flammable liquid.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: When diluted with a large amount of water, release of this

material directly or indirectly to the environment is not

expected to have any significant inpact.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: No special considerations required.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Release to sewage works should not occur in normal usage;

however, dilutions of ZOLDINE MS-52 (< 100 mg/l) should be

well-tolerated in most systems.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not Applicable

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not Applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not Applicable
