Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

A base-catalysed second-order hydrolysis rate constant of 0.3498 L/mole-sec was calculated, corresponding to half-lives of 229 years at pH 7 and 23 days at pH 8.

The biodegradation of the test material Bis(C12-C13)alkyl-2-hydroxybutandioate measured by manometric repirometry was 77% after 28 days of incubation, approx. 48 % at the end of the 10-day window. Bis(C12-C13)alkyl-2-hydroxybutandioate was judged to be readily biodegradable, but failing 10 -day window. Because the substance is regarded as an UVCB the 10d-window criteria has not to be met and is regarded as “readily biodegradable”.

The calculated BCF was 195.4 L/kg wet weight. Therefore the substance is not expected to be bioaccumulative.

The McCall classification scheme classifies the substances as immobile in soil (Koc>5000) because of the log KOC of 5.016 (according to MCI method) and 5.648 (according to KOW method).

The Henry's Law constant of 4.4E-005 atm-m3/mole indicates that the substance is not volatile from surface water.

Soil and water were found to be the major target compartments.
