Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation

develops seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, foam, carbon dioxide and dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,

nitrogen and sulfur together with some soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a self-contained breathing

apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Sweep up

spill, keeping dust formation to a minimum. Transfer to

labelled containers and dispose of by incineration in

accordance with local regulations. Wash spill site with

water avoiding discharge to watercourses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling organic

chemicals. Ensure adequate ventilation. Protective clothing

(e.g. disposable paper overalls), leather safety shoes,

safety goggles, gloves (e.g. plastochrome) and a dust mask

(e.g. 3M 8500 series or Protex Premium S1181) should be

worn. An airflow helmet (e.g. type AH10) may be worn in

place of the goggles and dust mask. Wash hands and face

thoroughly after handling.

Storage: Store in a cool dry place away from light in tightly closed,

unbreakable containers.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is possible. The recovered material

should be heated in methanol until dissolved. Any insoluble

matter should then be removed by filtration. Finally the

liquid should be allowed to recrystallise and collected.

(A622, A618)

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility. Waste gas

treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen and sulfur should be

fitted.  (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
