Description of key information

A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of Salicynalva to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) under semi-static conditions. The study was conducted in accordance with EU Method C1 and OECD TG 203. Groups of ten juvenile fish were exposed to a range of concentrations of Salicynalva dissolved in water. Observations were made on the numbers of dead fish and the incidence of sub-lethal effects after 3, 6, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours exposure. The 96h LC50 for Salicynalva was 2.2 mg/L, expressed in terms of mean measured concentration. Measured concentrations ranged from 76 to 102% of nominal in freshly prepared solutions and from 51 to 81% of nominal in 24 hour old expired solutions.
