The effects of the test substance on the emergence of seedlings and the early stages of growth of terrestrial higher plants were investigated in a GLP study according to OECD guideline 208 [BASF SE 2013]. For this purpose, test plants of the species Avena sativa, Brassica napus and Vicia sativa were exposed to different concentrations of the test substance over a 25 day exposure period. The emergence rates of the seeds, dry weight, shoot length of the plants at the end of the exposure period and morphological changes were evaluated.
At the end of the exposure period an influence on the emergence rate of the three plant species and on shoot length of vetch could not be observed. An EC10 for dry weight however was established for all three species whereas Brassica napus was the most sensitive organisms with an EC10 of 19.7 mg/kg soil dw. Effects on the shoot length due to test substance exposure could only be observed with Avena sativa and Brassica napus, respectively, with Brassica napus being the more sensitive species again with an EC10 of 15.4 mg/kg soil dw.
The corresponding most sensitive EC50 value of 80.4 mg/kg soil dw is referring to the dry weight of Brassica napus. All other species and endpoints investigated were of lower sensitivity.
Conclusively, it can be stated that the test substance has a significant influence on the growth of Brassica napus and has only a slight influence on Avena sativa and Vicia sativa.Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number.
