Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
24 Jun - 26 Oct 1999
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EPA OPPTS 830.7200 (Melting Point / Melting Range)
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
thermal analysis
Remarks:
differential scanning calorimetry
Atm. press.:
ca. 1 013 hPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
ca. 165 °C
Remarks on result:
other: the decomposition is autocatalysed for pure and technical product

Preliminary tests in nickel capsules with non-pierced lids did not shown significant endothermic process corresponding to a solid-liquid transition phase before arising an exothermic phenomenon corresponding to a decomposition.

Test was conducted under atmospheric pressure condition.

Description of key information

decomposition temperature: ca. 165 °C at ca. 1013 hPa

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The melting point for the test item could not be determined due to decomposition at ca. 165 °C. The decomposition is autocatalysed for pure and technical product. Differential scanning calorimetry according to OECD Guideline 103 was used.
