Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
Emergency measure - Eyes: As the substance is a granulate contamination of the eyes is not likely. Contamination of the eyes must be treated by thorough irrigation with water, with the eyelids held open. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
Emergency measure - Skin: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
CONTACT WITH THE HOT MELT: Cooling immediately with plenty of water. Do not remove product crusts which may have formed neither forcibly nor by applying any solvents to the skin involved. In order to obtain medical care for possible burns and for a smooth cleansing of the skin, seek medical advice immediately.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Carbon dioxide, foam, dry powder; in cases of larger fires, water spray should be used.

Product arising from burning: In case of fire toxic gases may develop.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Firemen have to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Granules: Slip hazard! Take up mechanically; avoid dust formation.

Sweep up and dispose of, if appropriate together with other combustible waste material.

Handling and storage

Handling:
Under recommended processing conditions small amounts of emissions may occur. Provided good ventilation and/or local exhaust systems are available. Dust must be removed by effective exhaust ventilation.

Respiratory protection: In case of dust formation use respiratory equipment with filter type particle filter P1 according to DIN EN 143.

Hand protection: Protective gloves of leather, contaminated or damaged gloves should be replaced.

Eye protection: Protective goggles with side shield or tightly fitting protective goggles.

Body protection: Skin covering working clothes; wear dustproof overalls if large quantities of dust are generated.

Protection and hygienic measures: Avoid inhaling vapours. Avoid inhaling dust. Grease skin. At the end of work, wash hands and face. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Storage:
Protect from moisture and do not expose to temperatures above 40 °C. Keep container tightly closed.

VCI storage class: 11 (VCI: German Association of Chemical Industry)

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Packaging will be done in 25 kg PE bags or big bags.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None
Chemical reaction with water: None

Dust explosion: The polymer is a granulate which may have a certain dust content but the chemical nature would suggest that a dust explosion is improbable.
Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The product is suitable for mechanical recycling. After appropriate treatment it can be re-melted and reprocessed into new moulded articles. Mechanical recycling is only possible if the material has been selectively retrieved and carefully segregated according to type.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not possible

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: May only be transported to suitable incinerator with reduced non-air emissions observing local official regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: May be disposed of together with household refuse if local official regulations are observed.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable for the general public.
