Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
Vial filled with test solutions that had been purged for 1 hour with the test material at a rate of approximately 10 mL/min. The test vessels were filled to the rim to minimize headspace and closed with transparent lids sealed with a silicone vacuum grease. This method was shown in another experiment to result in a saturated solution.
Test organisms (species):
Cyprinus carpio
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM

- Source: Zodiac, LU Wageningen, the Netherlands
- Length at study initiation : 2.4-2.8 cm
- Weight at study initiation (mean and range, SD): 0.49 +/- 0.08g
- Method of breeding: Fi from a single parent-pair bred in UV treated water
- Feeding during test - no

ACCLIMATION
- Acclimation period: at least 12 days

EFFECT PARAMETERS MEASURED (with observation intervals if applicable) :

TEST CONCENTRATIONS
- Spacing factor for test concentrations:Not applicable, limit test
- Test concentrations: 100 mg/L
Reference substance (positive control):
yes
Remarks:
pentachlorophenol
Key result
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
> 197 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
meas. (arithm. mean)
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Details on results:
- Behavioural abnormalities:
- Mortality of control: none
- Other adverse effects control:no
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
no mortality in control, test conditions maintained during test, dissolved oxygen content at least 60% air saturation value, results based on geometric average measured concentrations
Conclusions:
