Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Refer to safety data sheet. Inhalation is not expected.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Refer to Safety data sheet. In case of contact with eyes,
rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical
advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: Refer to safety data sheet. Take off immediately all
contaminated clothing and wash immediately the skin with
plenty of water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Refer to safety data sheet. If swallowed, do not induce
vomiting, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is
conscious).

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: No restriction. The product is not flammable.

Product arising from burning: In case of burning the resulting expected products are CO2,
CO, NOx, SOx ...

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: In case of fire, use suitable respiratory equipment.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Refer to Safety Data sheet. Avoid the contact with skin and
eyes and avoid the breathing of aerosol. Use absorbing
material that can be eliminated by incineration. Small
quantities can be washed with water. Use dithionite to
decolour the Yellow Dye Y-1359.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid release to the environment. Wear suitable protective
clothing, gloves and goggles. Use only in well-ventilated
areas.

Storage: Keep container tighly closed at a temperature above 0 °C and
not exceeding 20 °C.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The aqueous solution of the Dye Y-1359 is commercialised in
IBC. That formulation is used for the manufacturing of inks
for ink-jet printers. The ink-jet cartridges are in general
smaller than 1 l and 100 ml for professionnal and public
consumers, respectively.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None. No hazardous reaction with water. No hazardous
polymerisation. Yellow Y-1359 is not a reactive dye.

Chemical reaction with water: None.

Dust explosion: According to our long experience based with the use of
similar Dyes no dust explosion is expected using Y-1359.
Furthermore is not isolated as solid but directly formulated
in an aqueous solution at 12%.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: None.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No potentially hazardous effect

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: no.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: yes.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: No. Do not empty into waste water treatment plant because of
the strong coloration of the product. Decoloration after
breaking of the diazo bond with e.g. dithionite.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: none.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: not potentially hazardous.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: no.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: yes.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: No. Do not empty into waste water treatment plant because of
the strong coloration of the product.
