Additional information

Conclusion on classification

In the absence of aquatic chronic toxicity information, the classification was based on the lowest short-term aquatic toxicity value (NOEC = 739 mg/L) from the three trophic levels (i.e.,the 96-h LC0 in fish of 896 mg/L, the 48-h EC0of 792 mg/L in daphnids, and the 96-h NOEC of 739 mg/L in algae) in trimellitic anhydride, based upon read-across. The substance was shown to be readily biodegradable (but failing the 10 -day window), and is expected to undergo rapid hydrolysis in the environment, thereby exhibiting a low potential for chronic toxicity. Therefore, the substance was not classified with respect to the aquatic environment.
