Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, timers (CAS No. 68937-90-6) is expected to show no effects up to the limit of the water solubility (<0.37 mg/L).

A short-term semi-static study investigating the toxicity of Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, trimers (CAS No. 68937-90-6) to the marine fish Scophthalmus maximus is available. This study was conducted according to OECD 203 and modified to marine conditions (OSPAR 1995). Due to the low water solubility of the test substance, the test solutions were prepared as water accommodated fractions (WAF). The LL50 (96 h) is reported as > 1800 mg/L (Sacker, 2005). No mortality up to the limit of the water solubility of the test substance was observed. Thus, the LC50/LL50 for the marine environment can be concluded to be greater than the water solubility limit of Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, trimers (CAS No. 68937-90-6) (< 0.37 mg/L, detection limit).
A supporting study investigating the short-term toxicity of Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers (CAS No. 61788-89-4) to freshwater fish was used as read-across. This OECD 203 study was conducted under static test conditions and with Danio rerio (Benjits, 2002). No mortality was observed within the highest tested concentration (350 mg/L nominal) during the 96 hours of exposure under conditions tested. Details on preparation of test solutions were not provided.
In conclusion, for short-term toxicity to fishes all available study reports for the category members report no mortality up to the limit of the water solubility of the tested substance. Thus, it can be assumed that also Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, trimers (CAS No. 68937-90-6) shows no effects up to the water solubility limit (< 0.37 mg/L, detection limit).
