Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eye contact : Flush with water while holding eyelids open for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.
Skin contact : Remove contaminated clothing. Flush area with large amounts of water. Use soap. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion : Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting unless directed by medical personnel. Seek medical attention immediately.
Inhalation : Remove to fresh air and keep patient at rest. Seek medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing Media : Use carbon dioxide, dry chemical or water spray.
Hazardous combustion products : Formation of toxic gases is posible during heating or fire. May include oxides of carbon.
Fire fighting procedure : During all fire fighting activities, wear appropriate protective equipement, including self-contained breathing apparatus.
Fire / explosion hazards : Very strong dust explosion characteristis. Very high sensitivity of a dust cloud to ignition, based on minimum ignition energy. Combustible material.

Accidental release measures

Health and safety precautions : Personnel involved in clean-up should wear appropriate personal protective equipement. Minimize exposure.
Measures for cleaning / collecting : Avoid use of a filtered vacuum to clean spills of dry solids, due to the potential for electrostatic discharge and the very strong dust explosion characteristic and very high sensitivity to ignition. Instruct all personnel not involved in clean-up operations to keep at a desigated , safe distance. Do not allow this material to enter surface drainage systems. Wear protective cloting and equipment consistent with the degree of hazard. Carefully scoop up the spillage and place in a suitable, properly labeled container for recovery or disposal. Take care to avoid excessive dust during clean-up. Wash dowm spillage area with copious amounts of water. This must only be undertaken if waste water can be directed to an on-site waste water treatment system.
Measures for environmental protections : Place waste in an appropriately labeled, sealed container for disposal. Care should be taken to avoid environmental release.
Additional consideration for large spills : Non-essential personnel should be evacuated from affected area. Report emergency situations immediately. Clean-up operations should only be undertaken by trained personnel.

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with the ECHA REACH Guidance on Intermediates (Feb 08) and the Cefic/CONCAWE guidance for industry on SCC (February 09). Site documentation to confirm safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each Manufacturing site.
Storage conditions : Keep away from heat, sparks, flames and other sources of ignition. Store away from oxidizing materials.
General handling : All conductive elements of the system that contact the dry substance should properly bonded and grounded and equipped with proper explosion relief or suppression systems. This material should not be flowed through non-conductive ducts or pipes because of the potential for electrostatic discharge ignition. Restricting the use of high resistivity materials, such as plastics, should be considered. Avoid contact with oxidizing materials. Do not generate airborne dust or expose ti ignition sources. Eliminate possible ignition sources (e.g. heat, sparks, flame, impact, friction, electricity), and follow appropriate grounding and bonding procedures. Avoid open handling. Minimize dust generation. Use local exhaust ventilation or perform work under fume hood / fume cupboard. Avoid inhalation and contact with skin, eye and clothing. When handling, use appropriate personal protective equipment (see Section 8). Wash hands and any exposed shin after removal of PPE. Releases to the environment should be avoided. Review and implement appropriate technical and procedural waste water and waste disposal measures to prevent occupational exposure or environment releases. Potential points of process emissions of this material to the atmosphere should be controlled with dust collectors, HEPA filtration systems or other equivalent controls.

Exposure controls / personal protection

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with the ECHA REACH Guidance on Intermediates (Feb 08) and the Cefic/CONCAWE guidance for industry on SCC (February 09). Site documentation to confirm safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each Manufacturing site.
Engineering controls : Engineering controls should be used as the primary means to control exposures. Use process containment, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels below recommended exposure limits.
Environmental exposure controls : Refer to specific Member State legislation for requirements under Community environmental legislation.
Personal protective equipment : Refer to applicable national standards and regulations in the selection and use of personal protective equipments (PPE).
Hands : Wear impervious gloves as minimum protection.
Eyes : Wear safety glasses as minimum protection.
Skin : Wear impervious protective clothing when handling this compound.
Respiratory protection : If the applicable Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) is exceeded, wear an appropriate respirator with a protection factor sufficient to control exposures to belox the OEL.
Pfizer OEL TWA-8Hrs = 3000 µg/m3.

Stability and reactivity

Stability : Stable under normal conditions of use.
Conditions to avoid : Keep away from heat and other sources of ignition, including electostatic discharge.
Incompatible materials : As a precautionary measure, keep away from strong oxidizers.

Disposal considerations

Disposal procedures : Dispose of waste in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Member State specific and Community specific provisions must be considered. Considering the relevant known environmental and human health hazards of the material, review and implement appropriate technical and procedural waste water and waste disposal measures to prevent occupational exposure and environmental release. It is recommanded that waste minimization be practiced. The best available technology should be utilized to prevent environmental releases. This may include destructive techniques for waste and wastewater.
