Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

Description of key information
The toxicity of Cyclohexane, 5-isocyanato-1-(isocyanatomethyl)-1,3,3-trimethyl-, homopolymer, caprolactam-blocked to the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to the principles of OECD Guideline No. 201 for Testing of Chemicals (2006). The aim of the study was to assess the effects on growth rate and yield production over a period of 72 hours. Six replicates were tested each for the limit concentration and the control. A slight inhibition on growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was found after 72 hours of exposure to the test substance. The NOEC for inhibition of the specific growth rate after 72 hours was 0.0579 mg/L. A slight yield inhibition (< 20 %) was found at the limit concentration.
